We are very proud to share that our long-term client, Whitbread, has recently been awarded two prestigious awards.

Firstly, Whitbread has been awarded ‘Transformation of the Year’ at the PLC Awards, which recognises companies that have transformed themselves in a way likely to save or substantially improve the business and offer the prospect of long-term value, while considering the impact on its various stakeholders.

Whitbread then went on to pick up the award for ‘Deal of the Year’ at the Retailers’ Retailer Awards, which identifies significant acquisitions and sales which have taken place across the sector over the last 12 months and is based on votes exclusively from senior executives within the sector.

These awards recognise the ambitious and successful sale of Costa to the Coca-Cola Company. Gate One provided consultancy support to the 5-month programme to separate the Costa business from Whitbread, resulting in the £3.9bn sale completing in January.

Alex McEvoy, Programme Office Lead for the separation says:

“We relish the opportunity to help deliver truly transformational change and the challenges this brings. Separating a multi-billion pound business from a FTSE 100 company within five months certainly fits the bill! We’ve really enjoyed working shoulder-to-shoulder with Whitread on this assignment and are really proud to have helped them to achieve such success.”

We look forward to supporting the new Whitbread organisation in realising their FY19/20 plans. It promises to be an exciting year ahead!
