Gate One, the digital and business transformation consultancy, has raised nearly £850 for charity as part of the 2.6 Challenge.

After the 40th London Marathon was postponed due to COVID-19, members of the Gate One team, led by manager Jen Nixon, opted to participate in the 2.6 Challenge instead.

The 2.6 Challenge was created to help save the UK’s charities. The cancelling of thousands of events and subsequent loss of income through associated fundraising means many charities are having to reduce or stop their services at a time when vulnerable members of society need them most.

As part of the 2.6 Challenge, participants were asked to complete an activity based on the numbers 2.6 or 26, starting from 26 April – the original date of the 2020 London Marathon. Suggestions for activities included gardening for 26 minutes, doing 26 star jumps or walking the dog for 26 minutes.

Following a Zoom call on Sunday morning, the Gate One team set off on a range of challenges, from running marathons, to cycling 26km, to running 5km in 26 minutes, to joining a 26-minute HIIT class.

Together, the dynamic group raised nearly £850 for Gate One’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) partners Coin Street and FareShare.

Jen said: “This event was a great opportunity for Gate One to come together – whether through sport, activities that people were doing at home with their families, or donation – and show our support for charities across the UK. The work that they do is vital to our society and we’re pleased to have had the chance to contribute.”

The total amount raised by the nationwide 2.6 Challenge campaign currently stands at over £7 million.
